I had spent the last year listening to lots of minimal wave, rare grooves, and found music, and I kept coming back to the Sky Girl compilation. The music was indirect but powerful, existing in the spaces between pop and outsider. I wrote a lot of songs trying to create the same atmosphere, and Memory Machine is the result. It was lots of fun to make, and I hope its lots of fun to listen to.
